With Christmas essentially two weeks away, I’ve started to finally sort through all of my holiday decorations. The tree will *hopefully* be up today and some of the other things, like the nativity scene, have already made an appearance. The thing to really get me into the Christmas spirit, though, has always been eggnog.

This is where the average person asks me, “Emily, doesn’t eggnog by definition involve eggs?

Indeed it does.

To make things worse, it was only a few weeks ago that I fully realized the implications of my new-found allergy. One of my most favorite Christmas traditions was ruined!

Luckily, I’m not one to give up too easily. The first thing I decided to do was look into egg-free eggnog (my boyfriend coined the term “egg-not” and I think I’m going to keep it). It turns out there’s an Almond Breeze version, so that was pretty simple.

Truth be told, the “egg-not” left something to be desired in terms of aftertaste, so I’m already planning to try and make my own from scratch. However, it was this “egg-not” that provided an excellent canvas on which to create a Christmas cocktail. I wrote before in my post about Thanksgiving dishes that I’m excited to create new egg-free traditions based on those I had before. I’m very proud to share this recipe with you as yet another attempt at moving forward post-diagnosis.

If you’re looking for the recipe, it’s at the bottom of the post!

What is a Moscow Mule?

Traditionally, a Moscow Mule is a cocktail made with vodka, lime juice, and ginger beer. What truly sets it apart is that it’s served in a copper mug. By adding ice to the mug, the copper quickly becomes very cold. That drop in temperature is what makes the drink itself so tasty. It’s refreshing!

Because you need the copper mugs, I really recommend buying a Moscow Mule set. If you use my affiliate link, I make money through Amazon Associates, so I’d appreciate it if you checked it out! The link is a simple set of two mugs. It’s the perfect gift if you know someone that likes to make their own cocktails!

“Mule”tide Cheer – The Drink

My boyfriend and I have been trying to figure out how to master a Mule recipe that included something like Fireball to make a fire and ice type drink. By adding in gin and peppermint schnapps, I think we’ve truly captured all of the Christmas flavors. I can’t wait to hear what you think!

I’m so excited to hear about your experience with this drink. As always, I encourage you to reach out to me with any questions or suggestions. Thank you to those that continue to come back to Yet Another Allergy Blog. It means so much!
